About Us

Fizz On Foot offers guided English countryside walks paired with visits to local vineyards, wine tastings, and insights into the UK’s winemaking heritage. We also host public and private wine tasting events in Eastbourne, alongside an online shop and membership scheme offering local discounts.

Fizz On Foot

Fizz On Foot offers guided walking tours through the beautiful South Downs, combined with visits to some of England’s finest vineyards. Guests enjoy guided wine tastings alongside expert insight into the region’s winemaking heritage, all while taking in the natural beauty of the Sussex countryside.

The business also hosts public and private wine tasting evenings, themed around either local English wines or wine regions from around the world. These events are usually held in Eastbourne and are designed to be relaxed, social, and informative. Alongside events, Fizz On Foot sells a curated range of local wines and wine gifts through its online shop. A membership scheme is also available, offering exclusive discounts with local vineyards, restaurants, and independent businesses.

Ownership

In 2025, Fizz On Foot announced an exciting change in ownership. Long-time wine enthusiast and keen walker Melissa Conibear took over the business from founder Ian Shearer, who retired after more than ten years at the helm.

Melissa’s journey with Fizz On Foot began as a customer, drawn to the unique blend of guided vineyard visits and scenic countryside walks. She became a regular at the Pop ‘N’ Pour monthly wine tasting evenings run by Ian and Penny and quickly immersed herself in the community. With a genuine love for the region, a deep appreciation for its walking routes, and recognised wine qualifications, taking over Fizz On Foot felt like a natural and exciting next step.

About Melissa

Melissa is based in Eastbourne and brings a strong blend of wine knowledge, marketing experience, and genuine enthusiasm to Fizz On Foot. She holds WSET Levels 1, 2, and 3 and is currently studying with the French Wine Scholar Guild, alongside a background as a B2B communications and marketing consultant.

When she is not working, Melissa can often be found out on the South Downs, with the Alfriston circular and the Bodiam walk among her favourites. She loves exploring vineyards across the region and refuses to pick just one favourite. Her wine tastes range from everyday favourites like Malbec and Primitivo to special occasion bottles such as Brunello di Montalcino, with a soft spot for crisp white styles including Chilean Sauvignon Blanc, Albariño, and Rueda. Outside of wine and walking, Melissa enjoys fused glass and life as a devoted dog mum.

Thank you so much for a great time – Donna and I really enjoyed ourselves. Everything about it was brilliant – great walks, great wine, great hosts. I would definitely be interested in another one next year – the Seven Sisters walk seemed really good.
